TOTO Spare 170.283.00.1 – Details & Uses
Part name: TOTO 170.283.00.1
Type: Complete dual flush button set (top push type)
Category: Cistern external operating mechanism
🧩 What this part is
The 170.283.00.1 is a complete push button assembly mounted on the top of a TOTO toilet tank or concealed cistern.
- Includes:
- Dual flush buttons (big + small)
- Button housing / trim
- Internal push rods or linkage (in most kits)
- Designed for dual flush systems (full flush / half flush)
⚙️ Main function (how it works)
This part is the user interface of the flushing system:
- You press the button
- It pushes rods or levers inside the tank
- That activates the flush valve
- Water is released into the bowl
👉 It does not control water directly—it only triggers the internal flush valve mechanism
🚽 Uses
- Used in TOTO concealed cisterns and wall-hung toilets
- Enables:
- Half flush (liquid waste – saves water)
- Full flush (solid waste – higher volume)
🔄 When you need to replace it
Replace 170.283.00.1 if you notice:
- Buttons stuck / not returning
- Flush not activating when pressed
- Broken or loose button panel
- Uneven flushing (one button not working)
⚠️ Important clarification
- 170.283.00.1 = Button set (external control)
- It is NOT the flush valve (internal water release part)
- It works together with parts like:
- Flush valve assembly
- Push rods / actuator
🛠️ Compatibility note
TOTO parts are model-specific. Before buying:
- Check cistern model number (inside tank or behind panel)
- Ensure the button shape/size matches your tank lid or wall plate
🧠 Simple way to understand
- Button set (170.283.00.1) → “Switch”
- Flush valve (like 1CH501) → “Actual water release mechanism”
Both must work together for proper flushing.
